10 foot tree!

We had a great time tonight listenting to Christmas songs, drinking hot cocoa, and decorating our tree. It’s amazing how these little things that seem so inconsequential become the impressions we treasure most as we look back on our lives lived with our family. I understand the existentialists who passionately argue for us to feel our existence right here, right now. I agree with them. I stand with them and cry out those that are sleeping and need to be awakened from their stupor. Yet when they rise, unlike the empty hollowing out of our soul that existentialism welcomes and promotes, we rise to the mercies of God, thanking Him for this time, this moment, this memory. Realizing that it is these memories and our works done for God that come with us, not our material possessions. As John Piper says, there are no Uhauls attached to hearses, we go only with immaterial possessions which are gathered in times like this simple act of lighting up a 10 foot tree!

I do believe you’re wrong…lighting a 10 foot Christmas tree is no simple act!
