Psalm 29:2
Psalms 29:2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.
Our God alone is to be worshipped and adored. Not any man, not any angel, not any creature, not any material possession, not even the Father only, the Son only, or the Holy Spirit only. We are to worship our Triune God in all His splendor and majesty. All His mystery that is found in this complex compound unity of Holy and perfect community that is our One, True, God. How exactly are we to worship Him? In the splendor of holiness. A real perfect and true beauty which is expressed from His creature inwardly and outwardly as we burst forth in spontaneous doxology when we consider the He alone is LORD. What will it take for us to abandon ourselves and lay aside all things that hinder us from worshipping in the splendor of holiness? We see the angels in His presence who fly about His altar and cry out Holy, Holy, Holy. This thrice repeated declaration to the highest degree. All creation cries out, even the rocks will cry out if we are silent.
Psalms 29:3 The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over many waters.
Think of this scene for a moment…The God of glory thunders! In Isaiah 6, Isaiah is given a vision of the Lord sitting upon His throne, high and lifted up; and the trian of his robe filled the temple. The foundations of the thresholds shook in the presence of God and the house was filled with smoke. This was no magic show or circus trick. God almighty so filled this temple that every inanimate object, every angel and every being are brought low and tremble at His majesty. May God give me that same vision daily as I live as a husband, a father, and a servant called by God to do His bidding for His glory, as I stand in awe and entranced with the vision of this thundering and beautiful God.
