root canals and sin both suck

I just had my last dental appointment to deal with this root canal issue that has plagued me for the last month. This little beast of burden has been giving me migraines for the last 4 or 5 weeks and has really caused an inability to focus when I read. It’s a amazing how such a little thing can affect the whole body…kinda like sin. I wanted to simply take some advil and ignore the pain, but what was needed was to expose the nerve, go deep and yank that sucker out! I am constantly amazed at my own inability at times to follow the counsel I give to others. What a great reminder that I am each day in desperate need of Christ’s sufficiency in grace. The pain I’m experiencing is due to my own willful disobedience to do what I knew was right and best, and instead pretend as if I was o.k. I have a sneaking suspicion this is how many of those that attend our church feel. “I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate” (Rom. 7:15). Sin is frustrating…

Funny how we can find stories of redemption in silly things like root canals.
