spurgeon on martyrdom

“Look at old Ignatius. He is brought into the Roman circus, and after facing the taunts and jeers of the multitude, the lions are let loose on him. He thrusts his arm into the lion’s mouth, poor aged man as he is, and when the bones are cracking, he says, “Now I begin to be a Christian!”

I heard you’re writing a book I need to read. Where are your posts about that?

Yep, I’m doing some work on exegeting culture. I’ve got a working title and subtitle and I have the table of contents with several thoughts on paper within each section. I just need to actually “write” the whole work. It’s something I’m passionate about. It’s a work to help us hear from those with worldviews that differ from our own. It’s a work to listen to the story of the lives of men and women who though they may not know it, think philosophically about epistemology, aesthetics, morality, and social ethics. I hope to help many in our time take the time to listen so that we have earned the right to speak. Keep it in prayer.
