foolish tongue
wandering through mental cracks
thinking humility was an act
wanting it right the first time
realizing the folly of mouth and mind
loss of feeling, derailing of meaning
caught between saying and hearing
so it is, so shall it be
one word for you and three for me
prepared to speak
without time to think
nothing unique
trapped in replay, nothing novel to say
but this is the way its always been
despair, without hope, accepting my sin
trouble has found me yet again
the tongue has set this blaze within
come holy spirit and do what you will
come now and cause my mouth to be still
