Still reforming and resurging

I just read Mark Driscoll’s blog post a topic on our pastor’s forum regarding the Christianity Today cover. Cavman has also written an article about it.
It seems as if CT has it’s finger on the pulse of the current stream of reformed resurgence. It’s interesting that this story was made the cover story. This goes to show that we’re not completely off our rocker in making many of the same claims over the last 3 years.
I have yet to read it, but plan to grab a copy tomorrow. It seems pretty interesting. I know there are a couple of churches here in San Diego that have become quite a bit more vocal about their anti-calvinist stance. I beleive it’s because they sense that the only churches that seem to be leading movements and planting churches down in SD are churches that are calvinistic. My hope is that this doesn’t just create another “I’m right, your wrong” or “us vs them” climate. We’ve been living in that for so long. Perhaps it would be wise to just sit down with our bibles open and discuss what it is we do and do not beleive so that it squashes the confusion. Most of the commments I hear from the churches who disagree with us are nothing more than arguments agains hyper-calvinism, not against calvinism appropriately defined. I will join them in their fight against the hyper nuts, if they will simply take the time to listen to a historical and biblical explanation rather than reading Dave Hunt’s books and assume they have it all down.
I love my brothers and sisters from Calvary and other evangelical churches, and I hope that as this article finds its way into their hands, they will take the time to investigate on their own what it is that we beleive.
