Thanks for the challenge. I think that this is an issue we can never truly escape from. I have been really bristling over issues of pride/humility in the Church. It is good to see others chewing through this as well.

Such humbling and challenging words.

These verses I’ve kept so close to myself for a long time, but never really looked at them in light of how you put it. Especially when you said that the church is not our bride, she is Christ’s. She is the bride & we are the friend of the groom whom we love.

Great post David. I have been struggling though a lot of this stuff myself, your post and Matt Chandler’s message at the A29 bootcamp were very helpful. John the Baptist’s statement “He must increase, but I must decrease” is something I have to remind myself daily.
