"Jesus, the only one that can capture the heart of His bride." Powerful! It makes me wonder if when I see the hearts of our people NOT captured for Jesus if I have obscured their view of the Bridegroom and tried to sneak into their affections ahead of my Lord's...

God forgive me!

Thanks Dave

David,
Thanks for the challenge. I think that this is an issue we can never truly escape from. I have been really bristling over issues of pride/humility in the Church. It is good to see others chewing through this as well.

Such humbling and challenging words.

These verses I've kept so close to myself for a long time, but never really looked at them in light of how you put it. Especially when you said that the church is not our bride, she is Christ's. She is the bride & we are the friend of the groom whom we love.
Awesome.
Thanks very much.

Brian, it's great to hear that you're struggling through it though. That is a tremendous sign that God is drawing out your heart to be given more and more to Him. It was great to have you at the conference brother!

Great post David. I have been struggling though a lot of this stuff myself, your post and Matt Chandler's message at the A29 bootcamp were very helpful. John the Baptist's statement "He must increase, but I must decrease" is something I have to remind myself daily.
